TLDR: I'm shocked this place doesn't have better reviews. Had a great dinner here with my favorites being the deviled eggs (best I've ever had actually) and the cauliflower gratin (SO decadent and cheesy). Most importantly, I felt like every member of the staff here tried to make our experience top notch (the chef heard we loved the deviled eggs so she threw in an extra one on the house). ------ FOOD: 1. [MUST TRY] Deviled Eggs (5/5) - Flavor explosion. I order deviled eggs whenever I see them on the menu, and the ones here were so complex and so satisfying that we ordered more after we tried them. I was so impressed. 2. [MUST TRY] Cauliflower gratin (5/5) - Extremely cheesy (you get great cheese pulls from this). The melted cheese on top is a great pair with the liquid gold sauce around the cauliflower florets that all have a nice crunch to them. 3. Tomato Salad (5/5) - Super fresh heirloom tomatoes and a delicious hummus base with feta and dill. It's not a big portion for the price, but it's very tasty. 4. Caesar Salad (4.5/5) - This is an intense Caesar salad and I loved how flavorful the dressing here was. Halfway through the salad it did start to get a little salty for me, but others didn't find it too salty for them so this is a personal preference. You can tell the croutons are made in house. 5. Parm-crusted Pork Chop (4.5/5) - Delicious and came with this great chili maple syrup that added some cool complexity to the dish. Could have been a tad bit heartier as an entrée but otherwise was great. 6. Fish and Chips (3.5/5) - The fries = impeccable. I think they're "thrice fried" which explains how incredibly crispy they were. This dish came with a LOT of fries, enough for a group of 4 to share. The fish was surprisingly not that crispy though and didn't have that much flavor. I also really didn't like the vinegar aioli it came with. I wish it had just come with a tartar sauce or something more standard. ------ SERVICE: * I felt like we got great service, but there also just weren't that many people in the restaurant so it's hard to say what it would be like when it's busier * Our waitress was really sweet and made sure to check in on us throughout the meal ------ ENVIRONMENT: * Located in the Zetta Hotel * The entrance to the restaurant feels like it's in an alleyway * Inside, the restaurant is really well decorated and gives upscale-British-restaurant/pub vibes to match the cuisine. Most restaurants have forgettable interiors but this place was really lovely. * The restaurant gives quieter, more intimate dining vibes, but there weren't many people in at the time so it's hard to say for sure. It doesn't feel like a place where people would get too loud and rowdy

Our first visit to The Cavalier on last Saturday. The space is really cool with high ceilings, dark wood, large bar and great dining rooms. The food was very tasty. We started with oysters which were fresh and tasted amazing. The mignonette sauce was truly unique with added spice from pepper corns. We also tried the deviled eggs with crispy jalapeños and bacon were also notable. We moved onto our entrees (most of which are a la carte - which proved a great way of creating sharable dishes, if that's your thing) with the hubby having the pork chop and I had scallops with crab risotto. Both dishes were amazing on their own. We shared asparagus which had the perfect balance of doneness, lemony sauce and egg mimosa which made this a truly unique dish. The service was fantastic, from the bartender who made "the best Manhattan ever" according to the hubby, to our server and his assistant. The waiter was very engaging, offering suggestions (which led hubby to pork chop and asparagus) that were spot on! Definitely will return and highly recommend this restaurant.

Cute restaurant in the Zetta Hotel. Classy feel with fun music. The service was good but a little slow. It took a while for the server to take our food order and the food took a long time as well. We ordered the nuggets and fries to share at the table. I ordered the scallops and it was a bit salty. Overall I would come back for happy hour because the chicken nuggets and fries are so good!

I think the Marlowe burger's still got it, though today I could've passed on the bacon. Fries are okay, I like that the plate comes with aioli so that I don't have to ask for it in lieu of ketchup. I was disappointed with dessert - I saw some pics of a sticky toffee pudding but they don't make that anymore. It's been replaced with a sticky toffee *bread* pudding. It was good here though, unlike the one from monk's kettle that they really shouldn't serve. It was spacious and there was plenty of seating without a reservation. Came on a Wednesday night. Service was actually kind of amazing. There were like 3-4 staff helping us right when we sat down. We were there for a second dinner and they split the dish for us without us asking other than saying we'd share. I was impressed. It made me think a lot of places really don't try anymore these days.
